Home solar systems
for Taranaki households

As power prices keep climbing, solar cuts your energy costs, gives you long-term savings and adds value to your property. We design a system that is right for your energy use.

What you get

Sized for your house

Every home uses power differently, so every system starts with a free on-site energy assessment.

Designed to your brief

The cost depends on the system size. We only design the system you need, worked out at the energy assessment.

Your power first

Solar runs the house first, then charges your battery if you have one. Anything left over is sold to your power company, at 8c to 20c a kWh depending on your retailer. We help you find the best one.

Hand-picked gear

Over 1,000 inverters are approved for connection here. We deal with a handful, chosen for warranty, function and support. See the kit.

Looked after

An annual clean and inspection keeps it performing at its best. If you would rather not go on the roof, we can put you on our annual maintenance contract.

Questions

Common questions

How much maintenance will my system require?2026-09-30T06:14:19+00:00

An annual clean and inspection should be done on your solar system to keep it performing at optimum levels. But I would recommend visually checking the solar panels and any sign of debris or anything that will affect the performance. When cleaning the panels do not use any harsh chemicals, a soft brush and some water is all that is required. If you are not confident about accessing your roof or solar array the team at Streamline Solar can put you on our annual maintenance contract and get it sorted for you.

Do you have finance options?2026-09-30T09:06:20+00:00

Yes. Most of New Zealand’s big banks offer low or zero-interest green loans for solar, and Streamline Solar is a SEANZ member, which several of them ask for. Compare the finance options.

Is solar suitable for New Zealand homes and buildings?2026-09-17T05:08:04+00:00

New Zealand is the perfect place to be harvesting and reusing energy or simply just benefiting from the cost savings that solar installations can bring. Most locations around New Zealand enjoy about 2,000 hours of sunshine each year and many receive more.

What can affect the amount of solar electricity generated?2026-09-30T06:14:20+00:00

Your location and seasonal changes can affect how much power your system will produce. The orientation and angle of the panels can also have an effect on annual energy production. Placing panels in a north-facing direction is optimal, however placing panels on a west or east facing roof will still produce a substantial amount of power. In New Zealand, panels will not perform well if they face to the south. The tilt angle is also  important to maximise the energy created from your panels. Most New Zealand homes have a roof pitch of 20° to 30° which in most situations is perfect. A minimum tilt of 5° to 10° is recommended to ensure self-cleaning by rainfall to help keep the system running at its best. A regular cleaning schedule is also recommended.

The cost of a solar system will depend on the system size you install. Streamline Solar will only design the system you need to fit your brief during the energy assessment.

What happens to my excess power generation?2026-09-30T06:14:21+00:00

Your solar system will first offset your home’s energy use and charge your battery’s if they are installed, if you are still tied into the main power grid, your excess solar generation will be sold back to your energy provider. The export rates can vary depending on which company you have chosen to supply your energy from 8c – 20c per kWh. As part of the solar design service Streamline will help you find the best energy provider to maximise your designed system.
